A Message From Congressman Ruben Hinojosa; on the 4th of July Celebration

Statement

Today I received a heartfelt message and some photographs from Mario P. Ruiz, of McAllen, about the late Sgt. Freddy Gonzalez of Edinburg, a Medal of Honor recipient.

"Dearest Congressman Hinojosa:

Sending these photos/pix of the Fightin' Freddy DDG-66. They were e-mailed by my brother Juan{Johnny} A Ruiz, U.S. Army Pleiku, S.Viet Nam 68-69.

Freddy was my brother's friend growin' up.
We are from Edinburg's eastside, South 25th Albores Courts.

May Freddy's memory always be Blessed & may the ship which bears his name always be on patrol to keep the United States of America, free.

GOD Bless us Always...
Please extend my best regards to Ms. Dolia Gonzalez & to you, honorable Congressman."

As we plan our celebration for our nation's independence, this 4th of July, we should never forget the sacrifices that have been made by our very brave men and women in the U.S. Armed Services. They keep our country safe and free. Thank you to Mario Ruiz for sending me these photos of The USS Gonzalez (DDG-66).
